World Premiere of Ballet 5:8’s Latest Work Coming By: Wes Hessel

| April 26, 2023

Ballet 5:8, the women-led Chicago area troupe and school, will be performing for the first time their new original ballet, “BareFace”, adapted from the work of acclaimed author C.S. Lewis, at the Harris Theatre for Music and Dance in Chicago’s iconic Millenium Park. Done by their up-and-coming movement company, the production is a futuristic, female-oriented version of the classic Greek myth between Cupid and Psyche, as was reimagined by Lewis in his last novel, “Till We Have Faces”. Told from the perspective of Psyche’s older sister, the primary roles are danced by female artists, and the story is set in a far distant time when the environment has reclaimed much from the ravages of rampant damaging technologies.  The world premiere will be April 22nd, Earth Day 2023, and in that spirit, the set has been made from 95% recycled materials.

To support this ambitious performance, the new upscale accommodations which have recently opened just a short walk up Michigan Avenue in the Art Deco landmark Carbide & Carbon building, Pendry Chicago, has created a custom special VIP package for your opening night enjoyment on April 22nd. It includes your room and tickets to “BareFace” for two, a special amenity to welcome you, hotel credit for dinner and drinks pre-show at Bar Pendry, signature restaurant and glowing brasserie Venteux, and Cote D’Azur inspired rooftop terrace Château Carbide, as well as cadillac service to the Harris Theater, and a special post-show meet-and-greet with the cast.
