“yo ho” And Off They Go…

Babes with Blades’ production of the unique “yo ho” makes for an interesting tale, based on a true story of Anne Bonny (Rachel Sleek-Banuelos) and Mary Read (Sierra Buffman), two famous female pirates disguised as men named Mark and Andy, respectively, in the 18th century, who served under Calico Jack (Stef Brundage) in this comedic, chaotic, campy farce.

William Delforge is great as Chad/James, and Britanni Yawn outstanding as Vanessa, Nun and other characters. Director JD Caudill, harnesses together excellent sword fight scenes as staged by Carly “CB” Cason, and the many amazing varied costumes by Jennifer Mohr, as well as the wood stage design of Amy C. Gilman, which is versatile, creates the illusion of the ship and the cabins that the mischievous cavorting takes place in. Perfect lighting by Laura J. Wiley, plus the sound effects/music by Alex Kingsley add to the atmosphere.

There is a lot of action and laughs over the two hour storyline, which is definitely for mature audiences. The (sword-) play continues only until August 29th, so sally forth to www.babeswithblades.org for tickets or more information.
