“…Tiler Peck & Friends” Loaded with Talent
By Wes Hessel with Flo Mano
The first weekend of March The Auditorium presented “Turn It Out with Tiler Peck & Friends”, a program of fascinating dance by the New York City Ballet principal dancer, actress, and choreographer. The four sequences in the program wowed the involved audience.
The first selection was a modern muscular precision, poetic, fast-paced with dancing hands on the barre and full body control solid as surfboards. The second number was reminiscent of Picasso cubism in motion – a sculptural, mod, colorful composition with shapes-lines reflecting a spatial architectural approach to the music of the quartet. Next, the featured accompaniment was a piano duet, the movement acrobatically marvelous. The finale was tap dancing tango with breakdancing and bebop singing to a flamenco clapping beat, an Indian rhythm; a city slick essence of Basquiat graffiti/street art. The entire ensemble are amazingly talented dancers on top of their game.
