April 1 – Library Quilt & Sew Club – Join us for casual discussion about quilting and sewing projects and techniques. We embrace all skills and levels. 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

April 1Roblox Dress to Impress – Join gamers from Arrayscape and play Roblox’s Dress to Impress to see who is the most fashionista! Grades 2-5. Registration is required. 5:00-6:00 PM

April 2 – Bedazzle Your Own Book! – Bring in your own book to bedazzle at the Library! We will have all of the supplies you need, you just have to bring yourself and your book. Please note: The Library will NOT be supplying books and we will be bedazzling a small portion of the book. Ages 12 & up. Registration is required. 5:00-7:00 PM

April 3 – Community Baby Shower – Are you expecting or have you recently given birth? Join us for a celebratory day in honor of new parents in our community. There will be light refreshments, activities, giveaways from Angel’s Closet and Community Alternatives Unlimited, and resources for caregivers of young children. While this program is geared towards new parents and their children, all are welcome to attend. 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM

April 3 – Game On – Take your gaming to the next level! Join our video game program to play new and classic games, participate in friendly competitions, and win prizes. Grades 6-12. 5:00-6:30 PM

April 4 – Acrylic Fluid Art Workshop – Explore your creative side with Pop Craft Studio’s Acrylic Fluid Art workshop, no art experience needed! This relaxing and fun session lets you pour, swirl, and play with up to three colors of acrylic paint to create and take home your very own fluid art masterpiece. Note: Art pieces will need to dry for 24 hours before pick-up. Grades 5-12. Registration is required. 12:00-2:00 PM

April 6 – Storypalooza – Start your week off with Franklin Park Library as we enjoy stories, songs, and rhymes together! Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 11:00-11:30 AM

April 6K-Pop Demon Hunters Party – Can’t get “Golden” out of your head? Still sing “Soda Pop” all day? Come to our K-Pop Demon Hunters Party! We’ll have activities based on the movie, listen to the sound track, and make a craft or two. Ages 2-17. 5:00-7:00 PM

April 7 – Rockin’ Tots – Dance, sing, and get rowdy in our music and movement toddler program! Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 11:00-11:30 AM

April 7 – Read with Me – Join us for a new book club for older kids! We’ll explore books that tackle big ideas and challenging topics, reading selected passages together during the program and talking about them as a group. No need to read the book in advance. If you’d like to keep reading afterward, you can check out a copy to take home. Grades 3-8 with caregiver. Registration is required. 6:00-7:30 PM

April 8 – Senior Cafe – Join us for coffee, some sweet treats, games, and conversation. Find out and enjoy what the library has to offer our seniors. No registration is required. Ages 55 & up. 9:30-11:30 AM

April 8 – Teen Cuisine – Cook your own delicious meals and treats with us! Learn basic cooking skills and a delicious new recipe every meetup. This month, we’re making Rice Krispie Treats. All cooking skills are welcome. Registration is required. Grades 6-12. 4:30-5:30 PM

April 9 – LEGO Librarians – Come and join the snap together squad as we build LEGO sets to decorate the library. From Star Wars, to Zelda, to dinosaur fossils, we’re excited to build all the crazy big LEGO sets that you’ve always dreamed of building. Registration is required. Ages 11 and up. 4:00-5:00 PM

April 9 – Let’s Paint! – For artists of all levels. Grab your paint brushes and join Ms. Mariela for an afternoon of creative, colorful, paint-smeared fun! Grades 2-8. 5:00-6:00 PM

April 10 – Scales-N-Tales Storytime – Start your Friday morning off at the library with a fun storytime all about animals. A new animal will be featured each week. Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 11:00-11:30 AM

April 10 – Senior Medicare Patrol Presentation and BINGO – Are you confused about Medicare fraud? This presentation is all about the importance of preventing, detecting, and reporting Medicare fraud, as well as some open Q&A time! Registration is required. 1:00-2:00 PM

April 11 – Teen Volunteer Day  – Do you need volunteer hours for school, church, or a club? We’ll have various projects for you to do. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Grades 6-12. 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM

April 11 – Library Book Sale – Stop by our book sale for an incredible amount and selection of fiction books, Large Print, non-fiction books, DVDs, audiobooks, CDs, and much more! All you can fill bags are only $5. 12:00-2:00 PM

April 11 – Knit & Crochet Group – Relax and work on a project or receive basic instruction from experienced crafters. New members are welcome, and basic supplies and tools are provided. 1:00-3:00 PM

April 13 – Storypalooza – Start your week off with Franklin Park Library as we enjoy stories, songs, and rhymes together! Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 11:00-11:30 AM

April 13 – Anime/K-Drama & Ramen – Do you love to watch Anime? Do you love to watch K-Dramas? Do you love to eat ramen? OR have you always wanted to watch Anime/K-Drama and eat ramen, but didn’t know where to start? Then this is the program for you! When you register, be sure to vote on which Anime or K-Drama you want to watch! Registration is required. Grades 6-12. 4:30-6:30 PM

April 14 – Sensory Playtime – Join us for sensory playtime! We will have different tactile and sensory experiences for young kids to learn and engage with together. Each week we will have different stations focused on the different senses. Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

April 15 – Café y Conversaciones – ¡Ven y visítenos para tomar un cafecito y charlar! En este programa, invitamos a personas mayores hispanohablantes a la biblioteca para pasar un rato conociendo a otras personas en su comunidad. Toma un café y una merienda, juega unos juegos de mesa, y conoce a nuevos amigos. 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

April 15 – Wet Felting: Spring Bookmark – Wet felting is the process of using a combination of friction/agitation, soap and water to make felt out of wool fibers. Try your hand out at it by following the professional, Natasha, as she teaches how to make a beautiful spring bookmark out of wet felt. Limit 20. Registration is required. 1:00-2:00 PM

April 15 – Getting Started with Microsoft Office – Learn how to use the Microsoft Office suite, which includes Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint. 7:00-8:00 PM

April 15 – Popular Page Turners Book Club – Join us monthly for an evening of engaging conversation about popular books. This month, we are discussing The Underground Library by Jennifer Ryan. Copies of the book can be checked out at the Circulation Desk a month before the meeting date. Registration is required. 7:00-8:00 PM

April 15 – Spring Teacup Arrangement – Peggy Garvin returns to show you how to create a beautiful spring bouquet in a teacup during this fun, interactive class. For adults only. Registration is required. Limit 25. 7:00-8:30 PM

April 16 – Polish Storytime – Join The Language Labs’ presenter, Bernadetta, as she teaches, sings songs, plays games, and offers crafts in Polish. Ages 2-8 with caregiver. 11:00-11:30 AM

April 16 – Ready, Set, Game! – Join us for a fun, social gaming hangout where kids will play favorites like Smash Bros, Mario Kart World, Gang Beasts & high-energy board games like Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza and Steal the Bacon! Snacks and drinks are provided, just bring your game face! Grades 2-5. 5:00-6:30 PM

April 16 – Illinois Libraries Present: Cristina Henríquez: Voice, Culture, and Human Connection – Join us for a compelling virtual conversation with critically acclaimed, bestselling author, Cristina Henríquez. Henríquez’s newest book, The Great Divide, is a moving exploration of the people who lived, loved, and labored during the construction of the Panama Canal. It was named a New York Times’ Editors’ Choice selection and TIME Magazine “100 Must-Read Books of 2024”. Carmen Álvarez will join Henríquez as moderator. Álvarez is an advocate for libraries and Latinx representation in the publishing industry. Her work has appeared in Glamour, Elle, and Vogue and she has a social media presence surpassing 180k followers across platforms. This is a virtual program that will be offered via Zoom. 7:00-8:00 PM

April 18 – Passport Processing Event – Join representatives from the Village of Franklin Park’s Clerk’s Office at the Library for passport service hours. Appointments will be available from 10 AM to 3 PM and can be made by contacting the Clerk’s Office at 847-671-8242. Library staff are unable to book appointments for this service. April 18 – Comic Book Club – Join us to talk about your favorite comics and superheroes, and even make your own! We’ll have tips for making all types of comics and art supplies will be provided. Grades K-5. 2:00-3:00 PM

April 20 – True Crime Brew Time Book Club – Explore the dark side of nonfiction while enjoying fresh brewed tea and snacks. This month, we’re discussing Shadow of the Bridge: The Delphi Murders and the Dark Side of the American Heartland by Áine Cain & Kevin Greenlee. Copies of the book can be checked out at the Circulation Desk a month before the meeting date. Registration is strongly encouraged. 5:00-6:00 PM

April 21 – Flirty Fiction Romance Book Club – Are you a defender of the HEA (Happily Ever After)? Join us to read a different romance book each month, talk about our favorite tropes, and find some new ones! 5:30-7:30 PM

April 22 – Accessibility Features of Your Phone, Tablet, & PC – Learn how to adjust the settings on your phone, tablet or laptop to best suit your needs and abilities. 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM

April 22 – Earth Day Library Plant Swap – Come celebrate Earth Day at the library! Want to connect with fellow plant enthusiasts and swap plants? Donate any pest-free plants or seeds before April 22nd to gain early access to our plant swap. Don’t have any plants to swap? No problem! Celebrate Earth Day with some free plant cuttings (while supplies last). 5:00-7:00 PM

April 22 – Citizens Utility Board: Utility Bill Clinic – The Citizens Utility Board (CUB) is partnering with Franklin Park Public Library to host a free event to provide suggestions on how to reduce your utility bills and tap into money-saving, clean energy programs. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to receive a personalized analysis of their bills. Registration is required. 5:00-7:00 PM

April 23 – BYOBook Club – Bring in a book you’re currently reading or one of your favorites to share with everyone. Give a little book talk or just share some of your favorite quotes/parts, we’re here to learn more about books of all genres! Registration is recommended. 1:00-2:00 PM

April 23 – Kids & Krafts – Join us for creative kids crafts where children can enjoy a fun hands-on activity with a project to take home! Limit 24. Registration is required. Grades K & up. 5:00-6:00 PM

April 27 – Storypalooza – Start your week off with Franklin Park Library as we enjoy stories, songs, and rhymes together! Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 11:00-11:30 AM

April 27 – Cook the Book Club – If you’ve ever wished that book clubs focused less on the book and more on the food, this is the club for you! Every month, each member will pick a recipe from a previously selected book to prepare and bring into the book club. This month’s book is Padma’s All-American by Padma Lakshmi. The resulting potluck is the perfect opportunity to discuss the cookbook with others and try fun foods! Registration is required. 6:00-7:30 PM

April 28 – Disability and Special Needs Issues – Join us for a special lecture with attorney and elder law advocate, Michael Delaney, who helps audiences understand the laws that relate to those with disabilities or special needs, and gives insight into the resources that are available for this vulnerable population. 6:00-7:00 PM

April 29 – Spanish Storytime – Join The Language Labs as they bring Spanish Storytime to your Library! Enjoy stories, games, songs, and crafts in Spanish. Spanish speakers are encouraged to attend, but you do not have to be a current speaker to enjoy this program. Ages 2-8 with caregiver. 11:00-11:30 AM

April 29 – Candle Making Workshop – Feeling crafty and creative? Professional candle maker and business owner, Kari Maisonet will teach participants how to make their own scented 4 oz soy candle with dried flower pieces. Sign up today for a fun, stress-free candle making workshop. Limit 30. Registration is required. 6:30-8:30 PM

April 29 – Getting Started with AI – Learn the basics of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT and Apple Intelligence, and learn what they can do well and what they do poorly. Also learn how to spot AI-generated photos, videos, and misinformation. 7:00-8:00 PM
