We are located at 10311 Grand Avenue in Franklin Park, IL and offer a range of services and programs for children, teens and adults. Further information is available at www.fppld.org or by calling 847-455-6016. Unless otherwise noted, registration is required for ALL library programs.

August 1 – Book Buddies – Pair up with an older child and take turns reading to each other and follow up with a book discussion, drawing together, a snack, and games. Grades Preschool-8. 3:00-4:00 PM

August 2 – Graphic Novel Book Club – Looking for your next favorite book? Want to meet some new friends and talk about books? Join us to read and talk about a different graphic novel each session. A copy of the book will be provided. Grades 3-6. 3:00-4:00 PM

August 2 – Tai Chi – Participate virtually through Zoom with Tom Wilkens of Dancing Cranes Yoga in Riverside. Registration is required. We will email you a Zoom invitation the day before the program date. 6:00-7:00 PM

August 3 – Library Quilt & Sew Club – Join us for casual discussion about quilting & sewing, and showing completed projects. We embrace all quilting and sewing skills. 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

August 3 – Prairie State Primer – Join world traveler John Lynn as he discusses the unique features, attractions, and heritage of the Prairie State: Illinois. 5:30-7:00 PM

August 4 – Tail Waggin’ Tutors – Come and practice your reading skills with Bailey, the Certified Therapy Dog. Be prepared for a kiss and cuddle from the 2 year-old Newfoundland! Grades Preschool-5. Registration is required. 4:00-5:30 PM

August 5 – Game ON! – Join our video game program to play new and classic games. We’ll host different friendly tournaments like Super Smash Bros. and more. We’ll have snacks and refreshments. Grades 9-12. 1:30-3:30 PM

August 8 – Snacks Around the World – Get ready to indulge in tasty treats. Try out new snacks from around the world. Eat popular treats and add new delicious favorite foods to your shopping list. Grades 6-12. 1:15-2:30 PM

August 8 – Chair Yoga – Participate virtually with Susan Wilkens of Dancing Cranes Yoga in Riverside through Zoom or by phone. Registration is required. We will email you the Zoom & phone information the day before the program date. 3:00-4:00 PM

August 9 – Anime Club – Talk about all things anime and manga with us. Sign-ups can receive a free copy of our club’s current manga. We’ll have anime themed activities and a manga book discussion every meet-up. Grades 6-12. 2:15-3:30 PM

August 10 – Bon Appetit – Sign up to be a Franklin Park Library chef! Have fun making your dish then devour it (You don’t even have to share if you don’t want to). Who knew cooking could be so fun? Grades 3-6. 5:00-6:00 PM

August 12 – Pokemon Fan Club – Calling all Pokemon fans! Play all things Pokemon with us including Pokemon cards, Pokemon Go, Pokemon video games, and Pokemon trivia contests. Grades 3-12. 1:30-2:45 PM

August 13 – Knit & Crochet Group – New members are always welcome! Join fellow crafters from every skill level. Learn tips and tricks and share projects you’re creating. 1:00-3:00 PM

August 15 – Knights of the Square Table Chess Club – Join us for some lighthearted chess competition and instruction, if needed. Guaranteed to not be a stale(mate) evening! Grades 1 & up. 5:00-6:30 PM

August 16 – Slime Squad – Join the squad for an ooey-gooey fun time. You can’t go wrong with a bit of slime! Grades 3-6. 5:00-6:00 PM

August 17 – Mighty Monarchs Book Club – Stop by the library for some fun activities and discussions on the Monarch Book Award Nominees! The Monarchs is an Illinois book award with the winner chosen by kids just like YOU. Grades K-2. 5:00-6:00 PM

August 17 – Popular Page Turners Book Club – Join us each month to discuss favorite genres and popular titles. This month, we will discuss The Mystery of Mrs. Christie by Marie Benedict. Copies of the book may be checked out at the Circulation Desk a month prior to the meeting date. Registration is required. 7:00-8:00 PM

August 18 – Crafter’s Corner – Is there a craft that you’ve always wanted to try? Or do you need some extra space for a craft that you’ve been working on? Drop in anytime and stay for however long you need or like. This program is crafting free time for all ages. 5:00-6:30 PM

August 19 – Friday Flicks – Join us each month to watch a newly released movie! This month’s movie is Dog (PG-13), starring Channing Tatum. 1:00-2:45 PM

August 24 – Maker Mania – Hop on over to the Library to get those creative minds cranking with a Maker Mania craft. For families of all ages. 5:00-6:30 PM

August 27 – Friends of the Library Meeting – The Friends support the Franklin Park Library by providing volunteer services, sponsoring events, and funding programs. New members are always welcome! 10:30-11:30 AM

August 30 – PJ Storytime – Put on your pajamas and come down to the library for an evening storytime. (PJs are encouraged but not required.) Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 6:00-6:30 PM
