Kids Craft & Activity Kits – Take some time away from your screens and complete a fun activity or craft! We will have Grab-N-Go kits for children in grades K-5 and Tween Take-N-Make kits for kids in grades 4-6. We will also have bi-weekly preschool crafts kits for children ages 0-5. October 1 – Sunrise Storytime – Join us for stories, songs, and fun every Friday morning at the library! Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 10:30-11:00 AM
October 1 – Anime Club – Drop in and meet fellow Anime fans! Talk about your favorite Anime, Manga, and play a few fun games. We’ll watch shows on the projector and draw various Anime characters. Grades 6-12. 3:30-4:45 PM
October 2 – Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale – Looking for a great deal on new or gently used books, CDs, and DVDs? Come to the Friends of the Library’s Fall Book Sale! We’re holding a special outdoor sidewalk sale in front of the library this year to keep everybody safe. Happy shopping! (Rain date: Saturday, October 9) 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
October 4-8 – Head in a Jar Kit – This spooky decoration is sure to cause a fright! Create your own head illusion stuffed in a jar. Visit our website for information on how to participate. Grades 6-12.
October 5 – Tai Chi – Tai chi is a type of low-impact, weight-bearing, and aerobic – yet relaxing – exercise. People of almost any age or condition can learn it. Participate virtually through Zoom with Tom Wilkens of Dancing Cranes Yoga in Riverside. Registration is required. We will email you a Zoom invitation the day before the program date. 6:00-7:00 PM
October 5 & 7 – A Killer Among Us: Serial Killers, Monsters, Creeps, and Weirdos in Our Town – The largely American creature, the Serial Killer, has deep roots in Chicago. Come explore with Chicago historian and radio personality Clarence Goodman! This two-part event will be held live on Zoom. Registration is required. You will receive an email with the Zoom information the day before the program. 7:00-8:00 PM
October 6 – Franklin Park Crafters – Crafters of any kind can join us for a weekly meet-up to talk about what craft projects we’re working on and show off our crafty skills. We will meet both virtually on Zoom and in-person at the Library. This group is open to all ages. Registration is required. There is a strict limit of 14 people for our in-person meetings. October 7 – Perler Bead It! – Create different Perler bead designs. We’ll provide different Perler bead colors and tools to help you get started. Grades 6-12. 3:00-4:30 PM

October 11-15 – Halloween Luminary Jar Take-Home Kit – Create your own spooky Halloween decoration with our take-home kit. We’ll supply you with everything you need to make a magical and fun luminary at home. For adults.
October 11 – Chair Yoga – Chair Yoga classes are wonderful movement opportunities for any adult with limited mobility who wants to increase and maintain flexibility. Participate virtually with Susan Wilkens of Dancing Cranes Yoga in Riverside through Zoom or by phone. Registration is required. October 12 – Graphic Novel Book Club – Want to meet some new friends and talk about books? Join us to talk about a different graphic novel each session. Graphic novels are voted on at the previous meeting. Sign-up is required. A copy of the book will be provided. Grades 3-6. 4:00-5:00 PM

October 30 – Friends of the Library Meeting – The Friends of the Franklin Park Library support the Franklin Park Library by providing volunteer services, sponsoring library events, and funding library programs. New members are always welcome. 10:30-11:30 AM
