Writers Theater Has “Style”

“Tiger Style”, at Writers Theater in Glencoe, is a hilarious comedy with very serious overtones. The cast is extraordinary and likeable, the comic timing absolutely impeccable, as are the charming and realistic sets. Clear messages about the danger of stereotyping are abundantly clear, well communicated, with a plethora of humor. Be careful what you wish for, because you just might end up getting it.
An overachieving hardworking brother and sister duo go on a journey of a lifetime, only to be welcomed back into the arms of the parents they blame for what’s gone wrong in their a little too well-ordered lives. The sister Jennifer, an oncologist with a perfect record, finds herself in therapy with absolutely hilarious results. Played by the talented Aurora Adachi-Winter, her monologues are worth the price of admission. Brother Albert is passed over for a promotion that he deserves, but he has his revenge in a rather unusual way. Christopher Thomas Pow gives a flawless performance and is a pleasure to watch.
They are backed up by a cast of magnificent supporting characters, including their parents, a mysterious and ambrosial old man, a car radio fixer, border security agent, and a cousin willing to make an ultimate sacrifice for her family. This play roars with realistic brilliance. For a very fun theater going experience, don’t miss this stylish, masterful, and thought-provoking performance, playing now through October 30th; for tickets or further info, go to www.writerstheatre.org.
