Kayla Boye Shook It Up In “…The Ann Miller Story”
By Wes Hessel with Flo Mano
At the Ruth Page Center for the Arts, Porchlight Music Theatre presented an absolutely marvelous one-night only performance of “Shake It Away: The Ann Miller Story”, written and performed solely by Kayla Boye, directed by Michael Weber, with musical direction by Linda Madonia. A wonderful tribute to the famous icon…
The show strolled down memory lane, a biographical essay of the multitalented dancer/singer/actress in the Golden Age of Hollywood, who was discovered as a teenager, going on to become a legendary star of screen and stage. Ms. Boye personified her resilience and optimism through tap dance choreographed by Tammy Mader and songs while giving us insights of her life.
The 75 minute show ended on high note to a standing ovation, more deserving applause, and flowers as she exited through the lobby, beaming to the congratulations.
