“Catch Me If You Can” Flies High
By Cate Rees-Hessel with Wes Hessel
Marriott Theater Lincolnshire’s fun and energetic production of the musical version of the Tom Hanks – Leonardo DiCaprio classic chase film “Catch Me if You Can” is absolutely fabulous. Vocals and acting are top notch, the entire cast extremely talented, with excellent characterizations, including Chicago favorites Alexis J. Roston and Sean Fortunato, who bring their A-games in flawless performances. FBI agent Carl Hanratty, played excellently by Nathaniel Stampley, is realistic with enormous strength of character. JJ Niemann, as the slippery Frank Abagnale Jr., is incredible, giving the loveable bad boy depth. Love interest Brenda, as expertly portrayed by Mariah Lyttle, brings the house down with her show-stopping voice.
The set is simplistic and innovative – I love the overhead use of lighting and projections. This well-directed play, with interesting twists and turns, is upbeat and highly entertaining. Costumes are period appropriate, innovative, and attractive. As always, the Marriott brings us a lively, professional production – this is theater in the round at its finest.
Accompanying this great show is the Marriott Lincolnshire’s latest themed pop-up dining destination, Pan Am Grille. Be served by wait staff in pilot’s uniforms while sitting in an area with great elements of mid-century modern, including the luggage. The food is first class, such as a mouth-watering crab encrusted grouper. So have your next dinner and a show at Marriott Lincolnshire, but get on board before October 19th – for tickets or more information, go see www.marriotttheatre.com.
