Well Written World Premiere “The Notebook” Exhilarates Audiences

“The Notebook” at Chicago Shakespeare’s Yard Theater is both spellbinding and magnificent. This brand-new musical, a first-rate production with stellar acting, marvelous vocals, and a charming set, is synonymous with the perfection that we have come to expect from Chicago Shakespeare.

Based on the novel of the same name, “The Notebook” tells the tale of the commitment and dedication between the principal characters, Allie and Noah, and their lifetime of affection. Relationships between family, friends, and coworkers are realistically portrayed in this charming show. As the musical says, sometimes we walk through life looking in the windows of other people’s houses to see what we don’t have, but more importantly, what we don’t need. Noah and Allie are from very different walks of life but the bond they share can never be broken – even dementia can’t tear them apart.

The production also points out we must use our words wisely as we travel life’s journey. And just like a sea turtle, we will always find our way home if it is love that we share. This poignant play showcases the dignity of aging we should seek, and the timeless power of love. The musical numbers are extraordinary, beautifully sung and masterfully orchestrated. The special effects and lighting are fabulous, even bringing an actual rainstorm to the stage. This exquisite production is truly a rare gem and supernal work of art. The Notebook runs only through October 30th, so you’ll want to hurry to make sure you don’t miss this incredible show.  For tickets or more information, visit their website at www.chicagoshakes.com.
