Grab-N-Go & Take-Home Kits
Take some time away from your screens and complete a fun activity or craft! We will have Grab-N-Go Kits for kids of all ages every two weeks. We will also Take-Home Kits available for teens and adults each month. More information about kits can be found on our website at fppld.org. NOTE: Our kits are available on a first come, first served basis, while supplies last. Registration is not required. To ensure you get your kit, make sure to pick it up as early as possible in the week(s) that it is available.
May 2 – Knights of the Square Table Chess Club – Join us for some lighthearted chess competition and instruction, if needed. Guaranteed to not be a stale(mate) evening! Grades 1 & up. 5:00-6:30 PM
May 3 – Maker Mania – Calling all crafty kids! Get your creative minds cranking with a special monthly craft. This month, you can make a paper flower wreath for Mother’s Day. This is a family program. Registration is required. 5:00-6:30 PM
May 3 – Tai Chi – Participate virtually through Zoom with Tom Wilkens of Dancing Cranes Yoga in Riverside. Registration is required. We will email you a Zoom invitation the day before the program date. 6:00-7:00 PM
May 4 – Library Quilt & Sew Club – Join us for casual discussion about quilting & sewing, and showing completed projects. We embrace all quilting and sewing skills. 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
May 4 – Dream Big: Cultural Event & Craft – Join Sindy Garcia, Miss Illinois Latina 2022, for an engaging story and craft about achieving your dreams and accepting yourself. All Ages. 5:00-6:00 PM
May 6 – Sunrise Storytime – Join us for stories, songs, and friends every Friday morning in the library. Ages 0-3 with caregiver. 10:15-10:45 AM
May 6 – Li’l Dinosaurs Storytime – Join us for stories, songs, playtime and new friends. Ages 3-5 with caregiver. 10:15-10:45 AM
May 6 – GAME ON Fridays! – Join our gaming nights to play various games with us. We’ll host different friendly tournaments such as Super Smash Bros. and more. Space is limited, so registration is required. Grades 9-12 & adults. 4:15-6:15 PM
May 9 – Chair Yoga – Participate virtually with Susan Wilkens of Dancing Cranes Yoga in Riverside through Zoom or by phone. Registration is required. We will email you the Zoom & phone information the day before the program date. 3:00-4:00 PM
May 11 – Nailed It! – Try your hand at dessert decorating! Projects will be themed around the season or holiday. The best part is that your masterpiece will be completely edible. Yum! Grades 3-6. 5:00-6:00 PM
May 13 – FPPLDGamers – Join our gaming club and play with other enthusiasts in person or virtually. We play Super Smash Bros, Jack Box games, Among Us, and more. Grades 3-8. 4:00-5:00 PM
May 14 – Saturday Storytime – Turn off the Saturday morning cartoons and power up with an enriching storytime at the library. Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 10:30-11:00 AM
May 14 – Knit & Crochet Group – New members are always welcome! Join fellow crafters from every skill level. Learn tips and tricks and share projects you’re creating. 1:00-3:00 PM

May 17 – Wine Cork Memo Strip Craft – Create a cute and useful mini memo strip to display notes, pictures, or other small ephemera with this simple craft. Limit 20 people per session. Registration is required. 3:00-4:00 PM or 7:00-8:00 PM

May 18 – Popular Page Turners Book Club – Join us each month to discuss popular titles. This month’s book is Fly Girls: How Five Daring Women Defied All Odds and Made Aviation History by Keith O’Brien. Copies of the book can be checked out at the Circulation Desk a month before the meeting date. This will be a hybrid program: in person and on Zoom. Registration is required. 7:00-8:00 PM
May 19 – Mighty Monarchs Book Club – Hop over to the library for some fun activities and discussions about the Monarch Book Award Nominees. The Monarch is an Illinois book award where the winner is chosen by kids just like you! Grades K-2. 4:30-5:30 PM
May 20 – Friday Flicks – Join us each month to watch a newly released movie! This month’s movie is King Richard (PG-13), starring Will Smith, Aunjanue Ellis, and Jon Bernthal. 1:00-3:30 PM

May 21 – Friends of the Library Meeting – The Friends support the Franklin Park Library by providing volunteer services, sponsoring events, and funding programs. New members are always welcome. 10:30-11:30 AM
May 23 – Miniatures Monday – Are you interested in painting and playing with miniatures like Warhammer 40k and Dungeons & Dragons? Visit the Library to paint miniatures, or learn how to play different games with others! Whether you’re new to miniatures or not, all are welcome. We’ll provide basic paint and art tools for you. Feel free to bring your own figures to paint. Play sessions may be limited, so make sure to sign up. Grades 6-12. 1:30-3:30 PM

May 25 – Adult Crafternoon – Are you an adult looking to get creative? Channel your creativity into a fun arts and crafts project! We will meet once a month to work on an easy project. All supplies will be provided. Please dress to get messy. Limit 20. Registration is required. 3:00-4:00 PM
May 25 – Anime Club – Discuss all things anime and manga with us. We’ll have anime themed activities and a manga book discussion every meet-up. Sign-ups will receive a free copy of our club’s current manga to read and discuss. Space is limited, so make sure to sign up. Grades 6-12. 4:45-6:00 PM
May 26 – Pokemon Fan Club – Calling all Pokemon fans! Play all things Pokemon with us including Pokemon cards, Pokemon Go, Pokemon video games, and even Pokemon trivia contests. Visit our website for more details. 4:15-5:15 PM

May 31 – Retro REVIVE – If you’re interested in what electronics look like on the inside, this program is for you! We’ll take apart retro gaming consoles to conduct basic cleaning and problem solving. Grades 6-12. 3:00-4:30 PM
Library Closing: The Library will be closed on Monday, May 30 for Memorial Day. We will reopen at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 31.
