June 1 – Summer Reading Kick-Off Party – This year’s Summer Reading Kick-Off Party is dedicated to celebrating the 125th Anniversary of the Franklin Park Public Library District. What an adventure it has been, and what an adventure it will be! We’re excited to kick off the party with a musical performance from Being Bilingual Rocks. Bring your family and friends for an afternoon of music, food, and entertainment! 1:00-3:00 PM

June 3 – Chair Yoga – Chair Yoga classes are wonderful movement opportunities for any adult with limited mobility who wants to increase and maintain flexibility. Participate virtually with Susan Wilkens of Dancing Cranes Yoga in Riverside through Zoom or by phone. Registration is required. We will email you the Zoom & phone information the day before the program date. 3:00-4:00 PM

June 3 – How to Use the Cricut: Training Sessions 1 – Do you have a Cricut and don’t know how to use it? Or, are you interested in getting one, but nervous about how to use it? Learn the basics of using a Cricut in this 2 session class. The first session focuses on Design Space, or the computer aspect of using a Cricut. Registration is required. 5:00-6:00 PM

June 4 – Tinker Tots – Tinker Tots – Get your wiggles out with a toddler playtime! Different toys and games each week. Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

June 4 – Teens Dungeons & Dragons – Join in on playing a Dungeons & Dragons campaign at your library.  We’ll be playing through a continued story each meetup. Beginners are welcome. Feel free to bring your own models and dice. Grades 6-12. 2:30-4:00 PM

June 4 – Bon Appetit – Try your hand at cooking! Come to the library and see the tastes we have in store for your future chefs. Grades 3-6. 5:00-6:00 PM

June 4 – Illinois Libraries Present: The Hidden Gifts of Visual Thinkers with Dr. Temple Grandin

Join us for a special virtual event with Dr. Grandin, one of the world’s most accomplished and well-known adults with autism. Dr. Grandin has been at the forefront of research and activism for autism and neurodiversity for decades. This is a virtual program that will be offered via Zoom. 7:00-8:00 PM

June 5 – Library Quilt & Sew Club – Join us for casual discussion about quilting and sewing projects and techniques. We embrace all skills and levels. 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

June 5 – Family Trivia Nite – Get ready for a Kahoot! of a good time – with themed trivia the whole family can enjoy! Snacks will be provided. Prizes offered for 3 rounds of trivia! Grades K-5. 5:00-6:00 PM

June 6 – Mini Golf at the Library – Everybody likes mini golf! A few courses will be laid throughout the library for kids and teens to play. Come test your skills and have fun with a few rounds of mini golf! Grades 3-12. 4:00-6:00 PM

June 6 – Ready, Set, Game! – Join us for an open gaming club with snacks! Come play retro and new video games, sometimes even board or card games. Grades 2-5. 5:00-6:30 PM

June 7 – Scales-N-Tales Storytime – Start your Friday morning off at the library with a fun storytime all about animals. A new animal will be featured each week. Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 11:00-11:30 AM

June 7 – Comic Book Drawing Workshop – Learn to express your creativity in this fun and exciting program! Do Art Productions will be here to help you create your own comic. Grades 6-12. 3:00-5:00 PM

June 8 – Knit & Crochet Group – Relax and work on a project or receive basic instruction from experienced crafters. New members are welcome, and basic supplies and tools are provided. 1:00-3:00 PM

June 10 – Mat Yoga – This is the class for you if you’ve never done yoga, if you want to get back to yoga, or if you want to explore familiar postures in a different way. Participate virtually through Zoom with Susan Wilkens of Dancing Cranes Yoga in Riverside. Registration is required. We will email you the Zoom information the day before the program date. 3:00-4:00 PM

June 10 – ASL Club – Learn American Sign Language! Play games and have fun while you learn the ASL alphabet and simple words and phrases. All ages. 4:30-5:30 PM

June 10 – How to Use the Cricut: Training Sessions 2 – Do you have a Cricut and don’t know how to use it? Or, are you interested in getting one, but nervous about how to use it? Learn the basics of using a Cricut in this 2 session class. The second session will be focused on Cutting & Assembly, or how to use the machine, weed the mats, and assemble your projects. Registration is required. 5:00-6:00 PM

June 11 – Rockin’ Tots – Dance, sing, and get rowdy during our music and movement toddler program! Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 11:00-11:30 AM

June 12 – Dan Gogh’s Magical Camp Adventure – Looking for a magical escape? It’s time to make a lifetime of discoveries by experiencing the great outdoors in this one-of-a-kind variety show! Artist Dan Gogh will be your guide as you find mystical survival equipment, engaging camp activities, and amazing nature discoveries. Wonder off the beaten path and join Dan Gogh where magic, comedy, and art are all part of the adventure! Grades K-8. 4:00-5:00 PM

June 13 – Let’s Paint! – Grab your paint brushes and join Ms. Mariela for an evening of creative, colorful, paint-smeared fun! For artists of all levels. Grades K-8. 5:00-6:30 PM

June 14 – Game ON+ – Welcome all gamers! Join our video game club to play new and classic games. Meet fellow game enthusiasts and participate in friendly competitions. Grades 6-12. 2:30-4:00 PM

June 15 – Friends of the Library Meeting – The Friends of the Library support the Franklin Park Library by providing volunteer services, sponsoring events, and funding programs. New members are always welcome! 10:30-11:30 AM

June 17 – Rainbow Storytime – A special storytime celebrating self-expression, identity, and the LGBTQIA+ community.  Featuring books, songs, and a special rainbow themed craft. Ages 0-11.  5:00-6:00 PM

June 18 – Wet Felted Rainbow Bookmarks – Try your hands at a new craft! Natasha Leher Lewis will join us from Esther’s Place to teach kiddos how to wet felt their very own rainbow bookmark! What is wet felting? Wet felting is the process of using a combination of friction/agitation, soap and water to make felt out of wool fibers. Ages 7-12.  4:00-5:00 PM

June 18 – Flirty Fiction Romance Book Club – Are you a defender of the Happily Ever After? Join us to read and discuss different romance books each month, talk about our favorite tropes, and find some new ones.  5:30-7:30 PM

June 20 – Anime Club – Calling all anime fans! Enjoy all things anime and manga with us. Participate in fun anime themed activities, games, and crafts. Meet with other anime enthusiasts and join our manga/anime discussions. Grades 6-12. 3:30-4:30 PM

June 21 – Graphic Novel Book Club – Do you like reading comics, graphic novels, and manga? Join our Graphic Novel Book Club as we read different books, play games, and do activities based on them. Then, help us vote on which book we read next time. This month, we’re reading Atana and the Firebird by Vivian Zhou. Grades 3-8. 4:00-5:00 PM

June 22 – Friends of the Library Book Sale – Looking for great deals on new or gently used books, CDs, and DVDs? Join the Friends in the Library by the in-house book sale for a special, expanded book sale. You can also buy a reusable Friends tote bag full of materials for $5! 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM

June 25 – Crafter’s Corner – Is there a craft that you’ve always wanted to try? Or do you need some extra space for a craft that you’ve been working on? This program is crafting free time for all ages. 5:00-6:00 PM

June 26 – KC Adventure Crafts: Air Dry Clay Mosaics – Come to the library for a special craft time! We’ll be making Air Dry Clay Mosaics with beans, seeds, and of course air dry clay. Ages 4-12 with caregiver. 3:00-4:30 PM

June 26 – Popular Page Turners Book Club – Join us monthly for an evening of engaging conversation about popular books. This month, we are discussing Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt. Copies of the book can be checked out at the Circulation Desk a month before the meeting date. Registration is required. 7:00-8:00 PM

June 27 – Teen Cuisine – Cook your own delicious meals and treats with us! Learn basic cooking skills and a delicious new recipe every meetup. All cooking skills are welcome. Grades 6-12. 4:30-6:00 PM
