We are located at 10311 Grand Avenue in Franklin Park, IL and offer a range of services and programs for children, teens and adults. Further information is available at www.fppld.org or by calling 847-455-6016.

Unless otherwise noted, registration is required for ALL library programs.

July 1 – Tai Chi – Tai chi is a type of low-impact, weight-bearing, and aerobic — yet relaxing — exercise. People of almost any age or condition can learn it. Tom Wilkens of Dancing Cranes Yoga in Riverside joins us to lead you through each class. Please note: this is an active class. While you may take occasional breaks, you must be able to stand and walk on your own, unassisted, for the duration of the class. Ages 16 and up. 6:30-7:30 pm

July 2 – Sensory Art – Encourage your little ones to explore their senses with art projects chosen for smaller hands. Ages 0-2 with caregiver. 4:00-5:00 pm

July 6 – Arts & Snacks – Create a masterpiece at your library. We will have all sorts of art supplies available and a bunch of snacks to keep you going. 1:00-4:00 pm

July 8 – Chair Yoga – Chair Yoga classes are wonderful movement opportunities for senior citizens and for any adult with limited mobility who wants to increase and maintain flexibility. Susan Wilkens of Dancing Cranes Yoga in Riverside joins us to lead you through each class. Ages 16 and up. 2:00-3:00 pm

July 8 – LEGO Club – Bring a friend to this drop-in program and complete the monthly LEGO challenges together! All ages. 4:00-5:00 pm

July 9 – Summer Craft: Nautical Candle Holder – Bring your creative ideas when you paint and decorate your own Nautical Candle Holder. If you have something you want to use on the project, bring it with you and give it a try. Adults only. Limit 25. Registration is required. 2:00-3:30 pm

July 11 – Friends Portillo’s Fundraiser – Enjoy delicious food and help the Friends of the Franklin Park Library! Visit Portillo’s of Northlake (170 North Avenue) on Thursday, July 11 between 5:00-8:00 pm and mention you’re there for the Friends of the Franklin Park Library when you order. The Friends will receive 20% of the proceeds. Note: Please make sure to check that your receipt is marked “FUNDRAISER” to ensure that your meal is attributed to the Friends. 5:00-8:00 pm

July 11 – Thursday Page Turners Book Club – Join us to discuss popular titles on the second Thursday of each month. Refreshments will be provided. This month, we’ll read and talk about One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Copies of the book can be picked up at the Circulation Desk a month before the meeting date. 7:00-8:00 pm

July 12 – Morning Movers Storytime – Introduce your little ones to early literacy skills through reading, rhymes, songs and play. Ages 0-3 with caregiver. 10:00-11:00 am

July 12 – Friday Flicks – Join us each month to watch a newly released movie! This month’s movie is First Man (PG-13), starring  Ryan Gosling, Claire Foy, and Jason Clarke. Refreshments will also be available. 2:00-4:10 pm

July 12 – Tabletop Gaming Club – If you enjoy playing various board games then this is the program for you! Grab some friends and visit your library to play from a selection of classic and new tabletop games. This program is for teens and adults. 6:00-8:30 pm

July 13 – Friends of the Library Meeting – The Friends of the Franklin Park Library support the Franklin Park Library by providing volunteer services, sponsoring library events, and funding library programs. New members are always welcome. 9:30-11:00 am

July 13 – Knit & Crochet Group – New members always welcome! Join fellow crafters from every skill level. Learn tips and tricks and share projects you’re creating. 1:00-3:00 pm

July 15 – One Small Step – “Moon Landing, 1969” – Let’s celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the first moon landing! We’ll travel back to 1969 and put ourselves in the space boots of the astronauts. Grades 3 & up. 4:30-5:30 pm

July 15 – Great Picnic Cuisine – Summer is upon us which means picnic season is here! Gardens and local farmers markets are bountiful with great vegetables and fruits waiting to inspire home chefs. Chef Susan Maddox joins us to teach us methods and techniques for preparing delicious recipes with culinary ease. Limit 45. Registration is required. 6:00-7:30 pm

July 16 – Playdough Party – Learn how to make playdough using different recipes and ingredients! Grades PreK-2. 11:00 am – 12:00 pm – OR – 3:00-4:00 pm

July 17 – Library Quilt & Sew Club – Join us for casual discussion about quilting & sewing, and showing completed projects. We embrace all quilting and sewing skills. 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

July 18 – Lil’ Space Explorers – Blast off into space with us as we have a special storytime and craft for kids. Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 4:00-5:00 pm

July 18 – Fantasy Space Art – Combine art and science when you create your own fantasy art of places you have never been! Grades 3 & up. 4:00-5:30 pm

July 19 – Trendsetters: Galaxy Shoes – These DIY Galaxy Shoes are out of this world. Make sure to bring a pair of clean, white canvas shoes! Grades 6-12. 7:00-8:00 pm

July 20 – DIY Spa Day – Relax and let the stress melt away! Make some spa essentials at your library. Grades 6-12. 2:00-3:00 pm

July 22 – Armchair Tour of the Universe – Michelle Nichols from the Adler Planetarium returns to take us on a trip around the Universe. Don’t miss your chance to travel billions of light-years without leaving your library seat! Ages 10 and up. 7:00-8:00 pm

July 23 – Pete the Cat Party – Groove along with Pete the Cat as we share stories, treats, and play games together. Grades PreK-2nd with caregiver. 1:00-2:00 pm

July 23 – Family Flicks – E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial – Come join us for the unforgettable classic, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. The timeless story follows the journey of a lost alien and the 10-year-old boy he befriends. Rated PG. All ages. 3:00-5:00 pm

July 25 – Out of this World Crafts – Continue your space mission as you create stellar masterpieces. Grades 1 & up. 4:00-5:00 pm

July 25 – Killer Reads Book Club – Join us on the fourth Thursday evening of each month to delve into the deep, dark world of true crime. This month we will be discussing  The Good Nurse: A True Story of Medicine, Madness, and Murder by Charles Graeber. Refreshments will be provided. Copies of the book can be picked up at the Circulation Desk a month before the meeting date. 7:00-8:00 pm

July 27 – Summer Reading Celebration – Celebrate the completion of another successful Summer Reading Challenge! We’ll have games, activities, treats, and prizes. We will also announce grand prize winners from the Summer Reading Challenge. 1:00-3:00 pm

July 29 – Kids Advisory Board – It’s time to make your voice heard! Share your ideas with us so we can work together to make your library even better. Registration is required. Grades 1-6 4:30-5:00 pm
