December 1 – Storypalooza – Start your week off at the Library as we enjoy stories, songs, and rhymes together! Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 11:00-11:30 AM

December 2 – Rockin’ Tots – Dance, sing, and get rowdy in our music and movement toddler program! Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 11:00-11:30 AM

December 2 – Sci-Fi & Fantasy Book Club – Join us as we read and discuss a different science fiction or fantasy novel each month. This month, we’re reading Going Postal by Terry Pratchett. Copies of the book can be checked out at the Circulation Desk a month before the meeting date. Registration is strongly encouraged. 5:00-6:00 PM

December 2 – Let’s Paint! – For artists of all levels! Grab your paint brushes and join Ms. Mariela for an afternoon of creative, colorful, paint-smeared fun! Ages 5-11. 5:00-6:30 PM

December 3 – Library Quilt & Sew Club – Join us for casual discussion about quilting and sewing projects and techniques. We embrace all skills and levels. 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

December 3 – Santa Visit – All of the Franklin Park Library kids have been good this year so Santa is visiting us! You’re invited to take a picture with Santa at the Library. Don’t forget to tell him what you want for Christmas this year! Pictures are first-come, first-served. All Ages. 4:30-6:30 PM

December 3 – Tech Help Drop-In – Come in to get your technology questions answered. Anything from smartphones to laptops, writing emails to installing apps. We’ve got you covered! 6:00-7:00 PM

December 3 – Getting Started with Google Docs – Learn the basics of Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets and Google Slides. 7:00-8:00 PM

December 4 – Ready, Set, Game – An open gaming club, with snacks! Come play retro and new video games. Sometimes even board or card games! Grades 2-5. 5:00-6:30 PM

December 5 – Scales-N-Tales Storytime – Start your Friday morning off at the library with a fun storytime all about animals. A new animal will be featured each week. Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 11:00-11:30 AM

December 5 – Game On – Take your gaming to the next level! Join our video game program to play new and classic games, participate in friendly competitions, and win prizes. Grades 6-12. 5:00-6:30 PM

December 6 – Holiday Wrapping Paper and Gift Bag Swap – Do you have holiday wrapping paper or gift bags collecting dust? Do you have too much? Drop it off at the Library’s Circulation Desk from October 20 – November 21! Then come back to the Library on December 6 to grab different paper! **Please only bring new and gently used wrapping paper and gift bags. WE WILL NOT accept moldy, wet, crumpled, or paper that is almost gone.** 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM

December 6 – Knit & Crochet Group – Relax and work on a project or receive basic instruction from experienced crafters. New members are welcome, and basic supplies and tools are provided. 1:00-3:00 PM

December 8 – History Buffs Book Club – Join us to discuss a different book about history each month. Book selections may include histories, biographies, memoirs, and autobiographies. This month, we’re reading Jane Austen’s Bookshelf by Rebecca Romney. Copies of the book can be checked out at the Circulation Desk a month before the meeting date. Registration is strongly encouraged. 5:00-6:00 PM

December 8 – Penguin Family Ornament – Come and make a sweet little pebble penguin family ornament that you can display in your home this winter or give as a gift. Limit 20. 5:00-6:00 PM

December 9 – Sensory Playtime – Join us for an open sensory playtime! We will have different tactile and sensory experiences for young kids to learn and engage with together. Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM 

December 10 – Spanish Storytime – Join The Language Labs as they bring Spanish Storytime to your Library! Enjoy stories, games, songs, and crafts in Spanish. Spanish speakers are encouraged to attend, but you do not have to be a current speaker to enjoy this program. Registration is required. Ages 2-8 with caregiver. 11:00-11:30 AM

December 10 – Teen Cuisine – Cook your own delicious meals and treats with us! Learn basic cooking skills and a delicious new recipe every meetup. This month, we’re making Dumplings. All cooking skills are welcome. Registration is required. Grades 6-12. 4:30-5:30 PM

December 11 – Space-ology – Come and explore some of the mysteries of space with us as we travel through the known universe. Continue your curiosity with a space themed craft to bring home! Grades K-5. 5:00-6:00 PM

December 15 – True Crime Brew Time Book Club – Do you have a morbid curiosity for true stories of murder, kidnappings, cults, and unexplained events? Explore the dark side of nonfiction and join our new contemporary true crime book club while enjoying fresh brewed tea and snacks. This month, we’re discussing Cultish: The Language of Fanaticism by Amanda Montell. Copies of the book can be checked out at the Circulation Desk a month before the meeting date. Registration is strongly encouraged. 5:00-6:00 PM

December 16 – Tinker Tots – Get your wiggles out with a toddler playtime! Different toys and games will be available each session. Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

December 16 – Flirty Fiction Romance Book Club – Are you a defender of the HEA (Happily Ever After)? Join us to read a different romance book each month, talk about our favorite tropes, and find some new ones! 5:30-7:30 PM

December 17 – LEGO Librarians – Come and join the snap together squad as we build LEGO sets to decorate the library. From Star Wars, to Zelda, to dinosaur fossils, we’re excited to build all the crazy big LEGO sets that you’ve always dreamed of building. Registration is required. Ages 11 & up. 4:00-6:00 PM

December 17 – Book Club Party – It’s been a great year of intriguing and entertaining discussions during our many Book Clubs! Come enjoy some treats, play games, and talk about your favorite (non-book club) books you’ve read this year with your fellow book club members. Haven’t joined us for one of our book clubs yet? Come to the party and get to know the members and talk about books. Registration is strongly encouraged. 6:00-8:00 PM

December 17 – Getting Started with Microsoft Office – Learn the basics of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint. 7:00-8:00 PM

December 18 – Kids & Krafts – Join us for fun and creative kids crafts where children can make hands-on projects to take home! Limit 24. Registration is required. Grades K & up. 5:00-6:00 PM

December 19 – Graphic Novel Book Club – Do you like reading comics, graphic novels, and manga? Join us as we read different books, play games, and do activities based on them. Then, help us vote on which book we read next time. Registration is required. Grades 3-8. 4:30-5:30 PM

December 22 – Teen Taste Test – Do you love snacks? Do you want to try snacks from different countries or snacks you’ve never heard of? Come and taste the snacks from around the world, talk about them, and rank them from liked to didn’t like. Registration is required. Grades 6-12.  4:30-5:30 PM

December 26 – Friday Flicks – Join us each month to watch a newly released movie! This month’s movie is Here (PG-13), starring Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, and Paul Bettany. Refreshments will also be provided. 1:00-3:30 PM

December 29 – Cook the Book Club – If you’ve ever wished that book clubs focused less on the book and more on the food, this is the club for you! Every month, each member will pick a recipe from a previously selected book to prepare and bring into the book club. This month’s book is Sweet Home Cafe Cookbook by Albert Lukas. The resulting potluck is the perfect opportunity to discuss the cookbook with others and try fun foods! Registration is required. 5:00-6:30 PM

LIBRARY CLOSINGS:
The Library will be closed on Wednesday, December 24 and Thursday, December 25 for Christmas. We will reopen at 9:00 AM on Friday, December 26.

The Library will be closed on Wednesday, December 31 and Thursday, January 1, 2026 for the New Year’s holidays. We will reopen at 9:00 AM on Friday, January 2, 2026.
