April 3 – Chess Club – Join us for some lighthearted chess competition and instruction, if needed. Guaranteed to not be a stale(mate) evening! Ages 5 & up. 5:00-6:30 PM

April 4 – Tinker Tots – Get your wiggles out with a toddler playtime! Different toys and games will be available each week. Ages 0-4 with caregiver. 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

April 4 – Illinois Libraries Present: Danny Trejo Talks Tacos, Hollywood, and Redemption – Join us online as actor, author, and restaurateur Danny Trejo will discuss how he developed a prolific career in the entertainment industry with a hard-earned and atypical road to success. This is a virtual program and will be offered via Zoom. This event is made possible by Illinois Libraries Present, a statewide collaboration among public libraries offering premier events. 7:00-8:00 PM

April 5 – Library Quilt & Sew Club – Join us for casual discussion about quilting and sewing projects and techniques. We embrace all skills and levels. 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

April 5 – Silly Science – Put on your lab coats for a fun science experiment. Dress for mess! Grades K-5. 4:30-5:30 PM

April 6 – Kids’ Movie: DC League of Superpets (PG) – Kids of all ages can join us to watch the movie DC League of Superpets (PG) and enjoy some refreshments. 5:00-6:45 PM

April 6 – Spring Floral Arrangements – Peggy Garvin returns to help you create your own lovely spring floral arrangement. Adults only. Limit 20. Registration is required. 5:00-6:30 PM

April 7 – Kid Gamers Club – Fans of Roblox, Minecraft, Among Us, or Nintendo are invited to join our club! Bring your own device or use one of ours (limited number available for in-library use). Grades 3-5. 4:00-5:00 PM

April 7 – Game On+ – Join our gaming club to play new and classic video games and board games. You can also join our Discord server to connect with local gamers and your friendly librarians. We’ll provide refreshments. Grades 6-12. 4:30-6:00 PM

April 8 – Knit & Crochet Group – Relax and work on a project or receive basic instruction from experienced crafters. New members are welcome, and basic supplies and tools are provided. 1:00-3:00 PM

April 10 – Chair Yoga – Chair Yoga classes are wonderful movement opportunities for any adult with limited mobility who wants to increase and maintain flexibility. Participate virtually with Susan Wilkens of Dancing Cranes Yoga in Riverside through Zoom or by phone. Registration is required. We will email you the Zoom & phone information the day before the program date. 3:00-4:00 PM

April 10 – Bon Appetit – Try your hand at cooking. See the tastes we have in store for your future chefs. Grades K-5 with adult. 5:00-6:00 PM

April 10 – Family Trivia Night –  Come as a family and join in the Trivia Kahoot! Challenge yourselves with a new trivia theme each month and enjoy a craft and snacks. All ages. 6:30-7:30 PM

April 11 – ASL Tots – Babies and toddlers can learn helpful phrases that will benefit them during this fun and interactive American Sign Language (ASL) club. Ages 0-4 with caregiver. 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

April 11 – Spanish Club – Come and learn beginning Spanish – play games, make crafts, and learn about the Spanish-speaking world. For families. 5:00-6:00 PM

April 11 – Tech Tuesdays: Intro to Our Digital Library – Learn about the free digital services that come with a Franklin Park Library card. We will focus on covering the Libby app, hoopla, Kanopy and eRead Illinois. We will also discuss our Library Of Things collection here at the library. Bringing your own device is encouraged. 6:00-7:30 PM

April 12 – Tail Waggin’ Tutors – Come and practice your reading skills with Bailey, the Certified Therapy Dog. Be prepared for a kiss and cuddle from the 3-year-old Newfoundland! Grades PreK-5. 6:00-7:00 PM

April 12 – Simple Spring Meals – Chef Susan Maddox returns to demonstrate how to create spring dishes with incredible flavors utilizing fresh ingredients found in local grocery stores and early farmers markets. She will discuss methods and techniques which can make your time in the kitchen more efficient and fun. Samples will be provided. Adults only. Limit 40. Registration is required. 6:30-8:00 PM

April 13 – Wildflower Seed Bombs Craft – Recycle and reuse paper for Earth Day by making wildflower seed bombs for your garden. Try out different colors to make your own beautiful seed bomb creations. Limit 20. Registration is required. For teens & adults. 5:00-6:00 PM

April 14 – Scales-N-Tales Storytime – Start your Friday morning off at the Library with a fun storytime all about animals. A new animal will be featured each week. There will also be some bilingual Spanish. Ages 0-4 with caregiver. 11:00-11:30 AM

April 14 – Anime Club – Enjoy all things anime and manga with us. Participate in fun anime themed activities, games, and crafts. Meet with other anime enthusiasts and join our manga/anime discussions. Grades 6-12. 4:30-5:45 PM

April 15 – Friends of the Library Meeting – The Friends of the Library support the Franklin Park Library by providing volunteer services, sponsoring events, and funding programs. New members are always welcome! 10:30-11:30 AM

April 17 – Perler Bead It! – Create different Perler bead designs. We’ll provide different Perler bead colors and tools to help you get started. Grades 3-12. 4:00-5:00 PM

April 19 – Model Painting – Are you interested in painting or building your cool models and figurines? We’ll provide simple tools, tips, and the space for you to work. Grades 6-12. 4:30-5:50 PM

Copies of the book can be checked out at the Circulation Desk a month before the meeting date. Registration is required. This month, we are discussing The One Hundred Years of Lenni and Margot by Marianne Cronin. 7:00-8:00 PM

April 19 – Buying Your First Home Seminar – Homeownership provides your own safe haven, and also is one of the main drivers of generational wealth. Join Jamie Olesen and Michelle Aponte Boksa of Keller Williams Realty to learn why buying your first home could be the right choice for you and how to start your journey. 7:00-8:30 PM

April 20 – Teen Tech: Programming in Python++ – Need help learning Python and Computer Science concepts? Bring your computer for homework and assignment help. We can assist any middle schooler or high schooler taking Programming or Coding classes in school. Grades 6-12. 4:00-5:30 PM

April 20 – Crafter’s Corner – Is there a craft that you’ve always wanted to try? Or do you need some extra space for a craft that you’ve been working on? This program is crafting free time for all ages. Drop in anytime and stay for however long you need.  5:00-6:00 PM

April 25 – Doodle Games – Spark your creativity and play fun drawing games with us. We’ll play games such as Paper Telephone, Exquisite Corpse, and more. All drawing skill levels are welcome. Grades 6-12. 4:30-5:30 PM

April 25 – Tech Tuesdays: Intro to Windows – Learn the basics of Windows 10/11. We will go over the basics of file management, downloading/updating/uninstalling applications and programs, maintenance, useful tweaks and more. Bringing your own device is encouraged. 6:00-7:30 PM

April 25 – Illinois Libraries Present: Secrets of the Puzzle Master: A Conversation with Will Shortz – Join us for an online conversation with Will Shortz, the editor of The New York Times crossword puzzle and the world’s only academically accredited puzzle master. This is a virtual program and will be offered via Zoom. This event is made possible by Illinois Libraries Present, a statewide collaboration among public libraries offering premier events. 7:00-8:00 PM

April 26 – ASL Club – Play games and have fun while learning the American Sign Language (ASL) alphabet and simple words and phrases. All ages. 4:30-5:30 PM

April 27 – Pokemon Fan Club – Bring in your Pokemon games and trading cards to trade and play with others. We’ll have different Pokemon themed activities for you to enjoy. Grades 6-12. 4:15-5:30 PM

April 28 – Scales-N-Tales Storytime – Start your Friday morning off at the Library with a fun storytime all about animals. A new animal will be featured each week. There will also be some bilingual Spanish. Ages 0-4 with caregiver. 11:00-11:30 AM

April 28 – Friday Flicks – Join us each month to watch a newly released movie! Refreshments will also be provided. This month’s movie is The Fabelmans (PG-13) starring Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, and Judd Hirsch and directed by Steven Spielberg. 1:00-3:30 PM

April 28 – YA Book Club – Interested in reading different genres within YA and possibly making a friend or two? Join us monthly on Discord for our virtual book club! This month, we will be talking about Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz. Ages 13-18. 4:00-5:00 PM

April 28 – Trading Card Club – Bring your Pokemon, Yugioh, Magic the Gathering, or other trading cards to play and trade. We’ll have tables and light refreshments ready for you. Grades 6-12. 4:30-6:00 PM

April 29 – Friends Book Sale – Looking for great deals on new or gently used books, CDs, and DVDs? Join the Friends in the Library by the in-house book sale for a special, expanded book sale. You can also buy a reusable Friends tote bag full of materials for $5! 1:00-3:00 PM
