Happy 50th, Marriott Theatre
By Wes Hessel & Catherine Rees-Hessel
The 2025 season at Lincolnshire’s Marriott Theatre marks their fiftieth anniversary of excellence in musical theater in the round. This Chicagoland institution will feature a magnificent array of productions, opening with the Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber classic “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” in February; after Joe “Go, Go, …” goes, next up is the legendary story of the infamous ill-fated voyage, “Titanic, the Musical”, slated for April.
When that ship has sailed, a world premiere show this summer, “Always Something There…”, tells a tale of a woman in her mid 40’s who gets the chance to live it all over again, or maybe differently, at 18 in the 80’s. Then in the fall, Frank Abagnale Jr., the great pretender of “Catch Me If You Can”, is on the run, pursued by a committed Federal agent. And the holiday season finale for the year is “Million Dollar Quartet Christmas”, a return engagement of those four powerhouses, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley, in a Yuletide show of epic proportions.
