May 1 – Monday Nite Movies – See popular, award-winning animated features on the big screen and enjoy freshly-popped popcorn just like at the movies! This time, we’re watching Sing 2 (PG). All ages are welcome. 5:00-6:30 PM

May 2 – Tinker Tots – Get your wiggles out with a toddler playtime! Different toys and games will be available each week. Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

May 2 – Tail Waggin’ Tutors – Come and practice your reading skills with Bailey, the Certified Therapy Dog. Be prepared for a kiss and cuddle from the 3-year-old Newfoundland! Grades PreK-5. 6:00-7:00 PM

May 3 – Library Quilt & Sew Club – Join us for casual discussion about quilting and sewing projects and techniques. We embrace all skills and levels. 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

May 3 – Bon Appetit – Try your hand at cooking. See the tastes we have in store for your future chefs. Grades 3-6. 5:00-6:00 PM

May 3 – Family Trivia Night – Come as a family and join in the Trivia Kahoot! Challenge yourselves with a new trivia theme each month and enjoy a craft and snacks. All ages. 6:30-7:30 PM

May 4 – R2D2 Luminaries Craft – May the 4th be with you! Come paint mason jars to look like your favorite droid: R2D2. Then, add a candle for a bright luminary on even the darkest nights in the galaxy. For teens & adults.  5:00-6:00 PM

May 5 – Scales-N-Tales Storytime – Start your Friday morning off at the Library with a fun storytime all about animals. A new animal will be featured each week. There will also be some bilingual Spanish. Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 11:00-11:30 AM

May 5 – Game ON+ – Join our gaming club to play new and classic video games and board games. You can also join our Discord server to connect with local gamers and your friendly librarians. Refreshments will also be provided. Grades 6-12. 4:30-6:00 PM

May 6 – Illinois Libraries Present: Drawing Comics with Jarrett J. Krosoczka – Celebrate Free Comic Book Day during a virtual drawing workshop with New York Times bestselling author and illustrator Jarrett J. Krosoczka! This is a virtual program and will be offered via Zoom. This event is made possible by Illinois Libraries Present, a statewide collaboration among public libraries offering premier events. 10:00-11:00 AM

May 8 – Let’s Paint! – You can be the next Picasso! Join Ms. Mariela as she teaches you how to create out of supplies found in your own home. Grades 2 & up. 5:00-6:00 PM

May 8 – Chair Yoga – Chair Yoga classes are wonderful movement opportunities for any adult with limited mobility who wants to increase and maintain flexibility. Participate virtually with Susan Wilkens of Dancing Cranes Yoga in Riverside through Zoom or by phone. Registration is required. We will email you the Zoom & phone information the day before the program date. 3:00-4:00 PM

May 9 – ASL Tots – Babies and toddlers can benefit from this fun and interactive American Sign Language (ASL) club. Ages 0-4 with caregiver. 11:00-11:30 AM

May 9 – Tech Tuesdays: Intro to Office – Learn the basics of using Microsoft Office, as well as Google Docs on Web. We will go over the basics of word processing, keynote/presentations and spreadsheets. Bringing your own device is encouraged. 2:00-3:30 PM

May 9 – Spanish Club – Come and learn beginning Spanish – play games, make crafts, and learn about the Spanish-speaking world. Grades K-5. 5:00-6:00 PM

May 9 – PJ Storytime – Get cozy, pop on your pajamas and come in for an evening storytime with Miss Connie. PJs are encouraged but not required. Ages 0-5 w/ caregiver. 6:00-6:30 PM

May 11 – Crafter’s Corner – Is there a craft that you’ve always wanted to try? Or do you need some extra space for a craft that you’ve been working on? This program is crafting free time for all ages. All ages. 5:00-6:00 PM

May 12 – Anime Club – Enjoy all things anime and manga with us. Participate in fun anime themed activities, games, and crafts. Meet with other anime enthusiasts and join our manga/anime discussions. Grades 6-12. 4:30-5:45 PM

May 13 – Knit & Crochet Group – Relax and work on a project or receive basic instruction from experienced crafters. New members are welcome, and basic supplies and tools are provided. 1:00-3:00 PM

May 13 – Paint-N-Sip – Let your inner artist loose to create a masterpiece! A delicious, non-alcoholic beverage will also be served. For teens & adults. Limit 20. Registration is required. 1:30-3:30 PM

May 15 – Perler Bead It! – Create different Perler bead designs. We’ll provide different Perler bead colors and tools to help you get started. Grades 3-12. 4:00-5:00 PM

May 15 – Chess Club – Join us for some lighthearted chess competition and instruction, if needed. Guaranteed to not be a stale(mate) evening! Ages 5 & up. 4:30-5:30 PM

May 17 – Popular Page Turners Book Club – Join us monthly for an evening of engaging conversation about popular books. This month, we are discussing The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams. Copies of the book can be checked out at the Circulation Desk a month before the meeting date. Registration is required. 7:00-8:00 PM

May 17 – Illinois Libraries Present: On Being Fabulous with Jonathan Van Ness and Kristi Yamaguchi – Join a fabulous online conversation between “Queer Eye” star Jonathan Van Ness and Olympic Gold Medalist Kristi Yamaguchi. This is a virtual program and will be offered via Zoom. May 18 – Teen Tech: Programming in Python++ – Need help learning Python and Computer Science concepts? Bring your computer for homework and assignment help. We can assist any middle schooler or high schooler taking Programming or Coding classes in school. Grades 6-12. 4:00-5:30 PM

We will go over the basics of navigation, file management, downloading/uninstalling apps, customization of your home and lock screens, tips and more. May 24 – ASL Club – Play games and have fun while learning the American Sign Language (ASL) alphabet and simple words and phrases. All ages. 4:30-5:30 PM

May 26 – Friday Flicks – Join us each month to watch a newly released movie! This month’s movie is The Banshees of Inisherin (R). This film stars Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. Refreshments will also be available. 1:00-2:50 PM

May 27 – Buying Your First Home Seminar – Homeownership provides your own safe haven, and also is one of the main drivers of generational wealth. Join Jamie Olesen and Michelle Aponte Boksa of Keller Williams Realty to learn why buying your first home could be the right choice for you and how to start your journey. 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM

May 29 – Library Closing – The Library will be closed on Monday, May 29, 2023 for Memorial Day. We will reopen at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 30.

May 30 – Doodle Games – Spark your creativity and play fun drawing games with us. We’ll play games such as Paper Telephone, Exquisite Corpse, and more. All drawing skill levels are welcome. Grades 6-12. 4:00-5:00 PM

May 31 – YA Book Club – Interested in reading different genres within YA and possibly making a friend or two? Join us monthly on Discord for our virtual book club! This month, we will be talking about Black Internet Effect by Shavone Charles. Ages 13-18. 4:00-5:00 PM
