November 1 – Library Blood Drive – Get a head start on this year’s season of giving and give blood at the library! Hospitals often see a decrease in their supply of blood during the holiday season, so each donation counts. 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

November 4 – Sci-Fi & Fantasy Book Club – Join us as we read and discuss a different science fiction or fantasy novel each month. This month, we’re reading A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. November 4 – Dreaming Up Dinosaurs – Explore how artists and paleontologists believe dinosaurs looked like and then draw and clay model your own dinosaur! Grades K-5. Registration is required. 5:00-6:00 PM
November 5 – Library Quilt & Sew Club – Join us for casual discussion about quilting and sewing projects and techniques. We embrace all skills and levels. 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
November 5 – Teen Cuisine – Cook your own delicious meals and treats with us! Learn basic cooking skills and a delicious new recipe every meetup. This month, we’re making Chocolate Brownies. All cooking skills are welcome. Registration is required. Grades 6-12. 4:30-5:30 PM

November 6 – Ready, Set, Game – An open gaming club, with snacks! Come play retro and new video games. Sometimes even board or card games! Grades 2-5. 5:00-6:30 PM
November 7 – Scales-N-Tales Storytime – Start your Friday morning off at the library with a fun storytime all about animals. A new animal will be featured each week. Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 11:00-11:30 AM
November 7 – Game On – Take your gaming to the next level! Join our video game program to play new and classic games, participate in friendly competitions, and win prizes. Grades 6-12. 5:00-6:30 PM
November 8 – Paint-N-Sip – Let your inner artist loose to create a masterpiece! A delicious, non-alcoholic beverage will also be served. Teens & adults only. Limit 25. Registration is required. 1:00-3:00 PM

November 10 – T-Rexplorers – Get a glimpse of what it’s like to go on a paleontological dig by exploring museum-quality fossil specimens from species like Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus Rex. Come 15 minutes before the program and get to meet Ranger! Ages 5 & Up. Registration is required. 5:00-6:00 PM
November 11 – Sensory Playtime – Join us for an open sensory playtime! We will have different tactile and sensory experiences for young kids to learn and engage with together. Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
November 11 – Flirty Fiction Romance Book Club – Are you a defender of the HEA (Happily Ever After)? Join Flirty Fiction Book Club where we’ll read a different romance book each month, talk about our favorite tropes, and find some new ones! 5:30-7:30 PM
November 12 – Spanish Storytime – Join The Language Labs as they bring Spanish Storytime to your Library! Enjoy stories, games, songs, and crafts in Spanish. Spanish speakers are encouraged to attend, but you do not have to be a current speaker to enjoy this program. Registration is required. Ages 2-8 with caregiver. 11:00-11:30 AM
November 12 – LEGO Librarians – Come and join the snap together squad as we build LEGO sets to decorate the library. November 12 – Holiday Petit Fours & Sweets with Chef Susan – The holidays are fast approaching and a great way to celebrate is enjoying some excellent Christmas sweets & petit fours that your family and friends will savor. Chef Susan Maddox is back to show you how to prepare some wonderful holiday season treats to fill your recipe box as well as your sweet tooth. Adults only. Limit 45. November 15 – Friends of the Library Meeting – The Friends of the Library support the Franklin Park Library by providing volunteer services, sponsoring events, and funding programs. New members are always welcome! 10:30-11:30 AM
November 15 – Knit & Crochet Group – Relax and work on a project or receive basic instruction from experienced crafters. New members are welcome, and basic supplies and tools are provided. 1:00-3:00 PM
November 17 – Storypalooza @ Finch Coffee – Join us for a special Storypalooza at Franklin Park’s new coffee shop, Finch Coffee (9602 Franklin Ave, Franklin Park). Come for all the regular fun of Storytime and stay to try some goodies! Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 11:00-11:30 AM

November 17 – True Crime Brew Time Book Club – Do you have a morbid curiosity for true stories of murder, kidnappings, cults, and unexplained events? Explore the dark side of nonfiction and join our new contemporary true crime book club while enjoying fresh brewed tea and snacks. This month, we’re discussing The Devil at His Elbow: Alex Murdaugh and the Fall of a Southern Dynasty by Valerie Bauerlein. November 18 – National Parks-ology – There are so many amazing northern National Parks, like Glacier in Montana and Katmai in Alaska, that were made to explore during the winter months. First, we will explore the different features and interesting experiences of several northern National Parks, and then do crafts based on what we have learned! Ages 5 & Up. November 18 – Illinois Libraries Present: Kenji López-Alt: A Journey Through Food and Science – Join award-winning cookbook author, New York Times food columnist, and Serious Eats director J. Kenji López-Alt for an evening of cooking insights, techniques, and foodie exploration. This is a virtual program that will be offered via Zoom. 7:00-8:00 PM
November 19 – Native American Heritage Month: Dance & Paint – Join Indigenous Chicago artist and dancer, Negwes White, as he shares his regalia, dance, and history with our community. For the most part, they can handle themselves, but our urban communities are harsh environments for them. We can expedite and maximize their benefits through proactive management and a focus on preservation and enhancement. November 24 – Cook the Book Club – If you’ve ever wished that book clubs focused less on the book and more on the food, this is the club for you! Every month, each member will pick a recipe from a previously selected book to prepare and bring into the book club. This month’s book is The Secret Ingredient Cookbook by Kelly Senyei. The resulting potluck is the perfect opportunity to discuss the cookbook with others and try fun foods! Registration is required. 5:00-6:30 PM

LIBRARY CLOSINGS: The Library will close at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, November 26 and remain closed on Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28 for Thanksgiving. We will reopen at 9:00 AM on Saturday, November 29.
