Ride the “Greased Lightnin’” (Extended Until October 26th)

Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in Arlington Heights presents a fun, very entertaining production of the classic, “Grease”. The music is beyond wonderful; the dancing, right along with the singing, is fantastic. Everyone is so talented. Eric Amundson, who portrays Danny Zuko, is so good that if you close your eyes you’d almost swear it’s John Travolta. A few extra chuckles are from Kathleen Puls Andrade, who plays principal Miss Lynch, with her little adlibs during the show.

The set is great – they use the base main bleachers area and just add props for each scene, with a center “tunnel” for some larger pieces, which works quite well. They even have a mock-up car that comes out for the ever-popular showstopper “Greased Lightnin’”. And there is a really cute part during “Beauty School Dropout” where her guardian angel, nicely characterized by Justin Grey McPike, makes his heavenly appearance. You don’t want to miss the old-school great, but class dismisses for the final time October 26th, so go to www.metropolisarts.com for tickets or more information.
